Beat the credit crunch with the Museum of Transport!18 August 2009
Families can now enjoy a day out and save money because the Museum of Transport in Manchester now admits accompanied children under 16 free!
2009 marks the 30th year of Greater Manchester’s Museum of Transport – and to celebrate, entry for children under 16 is now free of charge.
Museum Chairman Dennis Talbot said “This special deal has already been very popular with many families. People have less money to spend in the current economic climate, so we hope that this will allow any family to enjoy a visit to the Museum without breaking the bank”.
Additionally, the Museum is open every day in August to allow parents to make the most of this during the summer holidays.
The Cheetham Hill based attraction has explained the story of the county’s public transport to over half a million people since it was first set up in 1979.
Home to the largest original horse buses in existence, the Museum vividly traces the history of Greater Manchester’s transport back to Victorian times, with over 80 historic vehicles on display including buses, coaches, trolleybuses and trams.
There are also special displays of smaller items such as ticket machines, old street signs, badges and other memorabilia.
