Are these your old work colleagues?

Manchester Corporation Transport staff pose for the camera – do you know anyone in this photo?

The Museum of Transport needs help from everyone who worked on Greater Manchester’s buses in the past.

Museum Chairman, Dennis Talbot, said “We’ve been given thousands of photos over the years. They vary from garage openings to social events and even the Miss SELNEC competition. The problem is, we haven’t got any idea who most of the people in the photos are, as no-one wrote any names on the back – so can you help us identify them?

Although the museum has a large collection of vehicles, artefacts and photographs, it doesn’t have the memories and anecdotes of the people who worked in the industry. We are keen to record these before they are forgotten forever.

A special event – “Busmen’s Holiday” - has been organised at the Museum of Transport, on Saturday 28 June 2008 between 10am and 5pm.

There will be opportunities to reminisce about the old times and meet former colleagues amongst the vehicles you may have worked on. There will also be special displays of old and new buses and a chance to ride on some of our exhibits. Our tea room will be open to allow everyone to have a leisurely cup of tea and a chat with former colleagues.

If anyone has any old photographs, please bring them along and allow the museum to take a copy for the archives.

Entry to the event will be free.
