Become a Member

If you would like to become involved with the Museum of Transport, you can do this by joining the Greater Manchester Transport Society.

If you wish to become a volunteer in the Museum and help out during our large events or simply just give us an hour of your time we would be very happy to welcome you along.

Just send an email to our volunteers officer, Gav. He'll arrange a convenient time with you to meet at the Museum and see how you can be a part of our volunteers team as a Full Member or Senior Member.

Alternatively you can always ring the Museum during our opening hours and ask to speak to him.

Full Membership

This category is primarily for people who wish to be involved with the work of the Museum. You do not need to be a skilled craftsman as the Society offers you the chance to learn e.g. vehicle or building maintenance, painting or running the shop.

Full members are encouraged on Wednesdays - there are opportunities to help with the running of the Museum during the day and into the evening.

The Society magazine requires regular input of fleet news and articles, small exhibits and archives have to be catalogued and displayed, etc. The Society organises regular open days, Festivals and the Rally all of which take considerable organisation and manpower.

Please see 'Senior Membership' if you are aged over 60.

Senior Membership

Senior Membership is the same as Full Membership but is for people over 60.

Junior Membership

Junior Membership is available to children aged 12 to 17 but they must be in the company of an adult member at all times.

Family Membership

Family Membership is available for two adults and up to three children.

Subscriber

For those who do not wish to work in the Museum there is the option to be a 'subscriber'.

All categories of membership and subscription entitles you to:

- Bi-monthly Society magazine - 'The Journal'

- Free admission to the Museum (including special event days)

- Discounts on full price models and books purchased from the Museum's Shop

How to Join

Once you have decided which category of membership suits you best you can download a copy of our Membership Form using the link below.

The membership year runs to 31st March each year although if you join during September to March we'll give you to the following March free of charge

Please click on the link below to open the Membership form and then print it. Once complete, sign it and send it to us (the address is at the top of the form) along with your payment and a S.A.E.
