Festival of Model Tramways*

  - Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July 2008

 

This very popular event returns to Manchester. Many displays of operational model tramways and a free heritage bus service.

Free Heritage Bus Service to Manchester Model Railway Exhibition

 - Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October 2008

 

A free heritage bus service will link the Museum of Transport with the Manchester Model Railway Exhibition at New Century Hall, Manchester.

 


 

Leyland Atlantean 50*

- Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2008

 

A special themed event to celebrate 50 years of the Leyland Atlantean bus, once the backbone of many bus fleets across the UK. Lots of buses on display and in use on our free heritage bus services.

The Christmas Cracker*

- Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December 2008

 

Over 150 stalls selling a wide range of transport and local interest books, models, DVDs, photographs and much more… Enjoy a ride on our free heritage bus service too.

- The Museum will be open for this event from 10am to 5pm.

 


 

*Travelling to the Museum on Main Event days

 

By car: On main event days, due to limited parking facilities, we suggest that visitors park at either the MEN Arena, or at any other central Manchester car park and then catch one of our free heritage buses from Manchester Victoria (adjacent to the Arena) to the Museum (from the bus stop opposite the main station entrance).

By bus: Travel to Manchester Victoria and then catch one of our
free heritage buses to the Museum (from the bus stop opposite the main station entrance).

By train: Travel to Manchester Victoria and then catch one of our
free heritage buses to the Museum (from the bus stop opposite the main station entrance). Train tickets stating Manchester CTLZ as the destination are valid within Metrolink City Zone, allowing passengers from Manchester Piccadilly to reach Manchester Victoria at no extra cost.

Free Shuttle Bus

 

 

A free shuttle service will operate between Manchester Victoria station approach (opposite the taxi rank) and the Museum of Transport, every 20 minutes throughout the event:

 

From Manchester Victoria
0950, 1010, 1030 and every 20 minutes until 1650

 

From the Museum of Transport
1003, 1023, 1043 and every 20 minutes until 1703

Free Event Bus Service

 

 

A free circular service with a photograph stop will operate using vehicles relevant to the event. There will be regular departures throughout the day - information will be available at the Museum on the day.
